Information for Prospective Members
Prospective members Q and A
If you wish to become a member of ACHIPPP, please use the website link on the become a member page to download the application form and follow the instructions for returning it to us. We will then check your details and if you are eligible for membership we will let you know and confirm the bank details for you to pay the membership fee by standing order. The criteria for membership is explained on the website.
AChiPPP will offer you a professional network, access to peer support, supervision and training opportunities. See the website for more details. The Directory search will be an access point for parents and other members of the public who are looking for a psychologist working privately. We also run a help service to put members of the public in touch with psychologists who have current availability for work, which maybe helpful for you if you have good availability to accept new referrals. However, you will not be eligible for membership until you are working with children and young people for at least 30% of your working time in private practice.
Hi if you work with children and young people in private practice for 30% or more of your 3 days you will be eligible for membership if you also fulfil the other membership criteria.
As long as you fulfil the other criteria for membership, explained on the website, you are working in private practice 2 days a week and more than 30% of that time is with children and young people so you would qualify for membership.
AChiPPP only offers one type of membership so if you fulfil the membership criteria and work with children and young people for 30% or more of your private practice time you would be eligible for membership.
AChiPPP offers membership for individual psychologists working in private practice, so each member of the practice would need to join separately as we do not offer group memberships.
The website outlines the main benefits to members and many members find being part of a professional network like AChiPPP invaluable as it provides access to peer support, supervision and training opportunities, special interest groups and lively discussion on current topics. Find out more on the become a member page.
BPS registration is not essential for AChiPPP membership but you will need to be registered with the HCPC and fulfil our other membership criteria which is explained on the website.
You will need to wait until your HCPC registration is confirmed before applying for AChiPPP membership.
AChiPPP offers continued access to our peer network, training and interest groups for retired members who wish to stay in contact with the profession. For retired members we offer a reduced membership fee.
